Studio Residency

Etp residency program provides an unconventional studio space for photographers and photo-artists to live and work, while at the same time offering an opportunity to observe the creative process in an open studio format in a village atmosphere. The resident guest house is located in the EtP campus in the Anaipiranthan village, 8 km from the town of Tiruvannamalai. The South Indian village life, its landscape, traditions and people offer great possibilities for the visiting photographer.

Photographers and photo-artists could either continue their own project or develop a project with the Director, and work for a duration between 2 weeks and 6 months. We prefer artists whose work falls outside of the mainstream of conservative art practice. EtP will extend mentorship to encourage creative production for young and upcoming photographers and will offer the required support for the professional photographers to continue their work.

There is no charge to be part of the residency; however, costs towards travel, stay in campus, food and other incidental expenses should be taken care by the resident photographer. Preference will be given for photographers

who are interested in exploring analogue and experimental photography. Applications are accepted throughout the year. Special programmes are organised for interns.

EtP will extend administration and preparatory research, orientation to the town and culture, basic support for production and technical assistance, networking opportunities with the art community and create opportunities to interact and work with government schools and villages in and around Tiruvannamalai.

Appropriate visa is a must for International photo-artists to be part of EtP Residency programme. The necessary documents will be provided by the Trust.
