b j ( 1 r 2 ; L \ i l Photo Archive is our initiative to preserve the life and work of contemporary photographers . Currently, the focus of museologists / archivists is mainly towards conserving pre-independent photographs. The colonial India and her history and culture presented through these photographs have an un-debatable antique and cultural value, but the downside of such efforts is that there is a limited thrust towards preserving photographs of contemporary India. There is a pressing need to archive the visual documents of this period, as the visual social history and art of independent India is bound to be seen with the same importance as that of colonial India. This project has began with photographic images of Abul Kalam Azad. In the coming years we are interested to archive the life and work other known and unkown photographers.
