35mm Digital, Hand Coloured Archival Pigment Prints

WASWO X WASWO

Waswo X Waswo has been living and practicing art in Rajasthan for long enough to not be considered a foreign artist, although he is one technically, being born in the United States of America. Waswo approaches photography in a traditional manner, relying on chemical prints and pictorialist aesthetics, the latter which he believes is not paid enough respect by practitioners of the medium. Apart from working with photographs, Waswo is a prolific writer whose views have been significantly influenced by his experiences of and encounters with Indian traditions. In Tiruvannamalai, he continues his series of portraits. Hand coloured by artist Rajesh Soni, these digital prints produce a mystical and non-typical depiction of chosen inhabitants of the town.
