RAMU ARAVINDAN

Being one of the eminent Indian photographers of the day, it is no surprise that Ramu Aravindan has a clear and definite way of seeing, one moulded over time and no doubt assisted by his formal arts education from NID, Ahmedabad and his MFA with major in photography from University of Calgary, Canada. Ramu looks for spaces and localities, reinterprets them and creates images based on what he perceives as the character of the space, which he says depends on layers of visual information and their quality. His works, which sometimes combine design and photography, have featured in several photobooks and publications. He continues this spatial exploration in Tiruvannamalai, in this untitled series, where he captures the quiet spaces and events on the fringes of the hill on a Karthikai Deepam day.
