Ekalokam Trust for Photography is a proud partner of COMMON ROOM, an innovative, international project developed in Szczecin, Poland actively working since 2013. This Project is initiated and curated by Smt. JUSTYNA WERBEL and Smt. BEATA KURACINSKA, (Directors, Common Room, Poland). Contemporary Indian photographer Sri. ABUL KALAM AZAD, Director of PROJECT 365 extended his services as Director of Common Room, India. Ms. Tulsi Swarna Lakshmi served as the Co-ordinator. Common room project aims to promote cultural exchanges among young audiences through new technologies focusing on processes related to art and design. The first interactive, live, participatory workshop was conducted on 23rd April 2016 in Tiruvannamalai and Szczecin. The children who took part in the Common Room combined design, photography and other related art forms to create a pattern, which will then be reproduced on textiles. The designs and the clothes will become a part of an artistic installation in the Kids Love Design Festival, Poland. Contemporary Indian photographer and designer Sri. RAMU ARAVINDAN led this workshop. Smt. SREEJA NAMBIAR, Copywriter and story teller shared a story and inspired the children to collect plants and leaves found around the EtP campus which were used to create designs. Cyanotye prints were made. Shaji Jaleel (Videographer), Boney Keyar (Photographer and Lab technician) and Arjun Ramachandran (Technical) are the other team members of COMMON ROOM, India. Participants from Indian team were KAILASH (TVS Academy), SANTHIYA (Kaveriyampoondi Government School), SARANYA (Hebron School) THARUN SURYA (TVS Academy), SAKTHI (SRM Matriculation School), ANUSUYA (Kaveriaympoondi Government School), KUTUS (Home shcooling, Bangalore), NEFERTITI ARTEMIS (Kendriya Vidhyalaya), THARSHAN (Shanthimalai School) and Madhumitha (Hebron School).
